Art shows… and this piece of jewelry. I’ve talked about my love for art shows many times & my not love of art shows many times. I’ve said that Vincent Van Gogh didn’t cut off his ear because of his lover but because he had to do an art show. I’m kidding but I’m not kidding. What’s great about an art show? Well, you are great. I love the people. I love meeting you and learning about you and seeing you try on all the things we’ve made and your smile. I love your smile. It keeps me making things. I love being outside. I don’t do any indoor shows. They’re stuffy & depressing instead of festive & lively. The other side of the good is the bad… being outside in pouring rain, 100 degrees hauling 300lbs of tent weights a block away, wind, 14 hour day on pavement, all my beautiful things in totes being hauled somewhere, leaving my studio behind that I’m creating in… 3 days time spent just hauling & selling. 😑😑😑 It so much busy work it seems counterintuitive & counterproductive. That being said the car is packed with my hesitant self looking at it, sighing. It’s going to be great but only because of you. Thank you.
This piece of jewelry in the photo above is owned by a good friend & customer. It’s very special to me. These are the pieces I miss making because of ‘busy’ work. I have a handful of these special pieces and want to focus on making these kind of pieces only. That is actually impossible because you have to have failed pieces. Not every piece is a masterpiece. You mess up. But it’s really impossible if you’re not even in your studio and you lose 3 days to a rained out art show. So, as I pack my weekend bag for myself I sigh heavily. I wanted to dive into a project. It’ll have to wait. I’m not patient. It’s a personality flaw for sure. I’ll miss my studio & creating the entire time I’m gone. 💛
