When soldering really small things it really helps to leave the parts whole. So, in the photo I have the entire piece of white gold wire (it was one foot long) I line it up where I want to solder it and leave the whole thing nice and long. I only cut it when I am done soldering. This makes it easier to hold and no extra snippets of wire that become scrap. The rest of the lever back is made with a round / flat nose pliers (one side is round like a glass soda bottle and the other jaw of the pliers is flat). This kind of pliers does not make any mar marks on your wire. It is a critical tool. If you don’t have one you need one. I have three of varying sizes. My favorite being ‘stepped’ in different sizes up the round jaw. Oh, nice manicured hands…
