This is Cyn’s Ring. She went out West this summer and bought some sapphires…gorgeous. She wanted to incorporate the sapphires and a jasper into a ring. Well, the pink sapphire is an odd size and shape. So in the pictures I am creating a bezel setting for the pink sapphire. It’s little so it is picky work. You need a seat for the stone within the bezel…there is a picture of that too. I always solder tiny things on a screen which acts as a heat sink so I can have a little more room for error. I also try to solder small settings onto some kind of back plate first to protect them during the final soldering to the main piece. This is just a little safety net. I don’t want a meltdown to happen on my main ‘canvas.’ If you look in the last picture I ended up not using the bezel setting I made. I ended up using a prong setting. I just liked the contrast in design better. I will use the bezel setting I made with some other teeny tiny stone. Now I need to pickle, scrub, saw out the main shape and make a ring band. Will finish up tomorrow…
